I wanted to give a little bit more background on Torque. I had decided back in late March of 08 that I wanted to get a Blue Nose Pitbull. I was friends with Martin but had no idea that he was the owner of Southern Cali Kennels. I just happened to mention to him that I was planning on getting a dog (literally the next day) when he smiled real big and began to tell me about Goliath, his prize weight puller. He went on to tell me that he had bred Goliath for the first time and the litter should be dropping some time in May. I had helped Martin out in the past and he felt like he owed me so he promised me that he was going to give me the first pick male.
I waited patiently for about 4 weeks and then I got the news that Shay had delivered her litter on May 14th. There was only one problem, she only gave birth to ONE pup. There were no still born pups there was ONE pup. In addition the pup was a Blue Fawn. When I asked Martin if I was still going to get the dog he reminded me that he had promised me "first pick male".
I was very anxious to see Torque, who was already named before he was born by my son Noah. I finally got to see him when he was 12 days old. I took video and you can find it on this blog. Ricardo, the owner of Torque's mother was very disappointed. He really liked the dog and wasn't too thrilled about giving him up. He allowed us to bring Torque home when he was 4 weeks old.
Torque adapted well to his new home and proved to be a natural puller just like his father Goliath. Torque is a very special dog born under very special circumstances. We will have to see what the future will hold for him in weight pulling competition.
So remember, Torque isn't just Goliath's only son, he is Goliath's only offspring!
